Day 2 To Barcelona

We had about 350 miles to drive today to get to Barcelona. It looked like all freeway on the map. The first 150 miles must have had 125 miles of construction. It looked like the barricades had been up for years. It was single lane, then on the other side of the freeway, then back. First we were going 80 MPH for a mile then down to 50 for 2 miles. Few cars but long lines of trucks. After that I gave up and paid $30 for 200 miles of toll road into Barcelona. I like the huge bull signs up on the top of the hills. I have no idea what they are advertising.

We are staying at a Best Western right in mid town. We have always had good luck with Best Westerns in Europe and this is no exception. It is a big step down however from the fortress last night. Here we have to pay $35 a night for parking.

We went for a walk up to see the Sagrada Familia Church. Designed by Gaudi in 1916 it is still under construction. It is amazing. Tomorrow we will be in Barcelona all day and tomorrow night.
